Officers from the South Simcoe Police Criminal Investigation Bureau and the Street Crime Unit, the Emergency Response Unit and our partners at York Regional Police Canine Unit executed a search warrant at 5096 Yonge Street, Innisfil. The facility, a former garden center, had a number of marihuana plants being cultivated in the greenhouses. Officers removed almost 400 plants in varying stages of growth and also recovered a loaded handgun.
A 56 year old Brampton man was arrested at the scene. He was held in custody and is in bail court today charged with Possession of Marijuana, Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking, Production of Marijuana, Possession of a Restricted Weapon, and two counts of Unsafe Storage.
The investigation is continuing and further arrests are expected.
The street value of the seized product is estimated at $400 000.
