I guess you just can’t trust them New Yorkers with free WiFi. The City of New York installed 400 kiosks that had free WiFi on them. They were never intended for personal use but some homeless folks have other ideas.
The kiosks will still provide free domestic calls, phone charging and fast Wi-Fi with the user’s own device -but free WiFi will be no longer be available. Homeless people and panhandlers have been among the most avid users of the kiosks since LinkNYC began installing them eight months ago, charging their phones if they have them and watching music videos on the tablets-and apparently, watch quite a bit of porn. A firewall/filtering system was supposed to have blocked that type of viewing but I guess it’s not working?
