Communities across Simcoe County go together and pinked out yesterday! The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and CIBC Run for the Cure brings us together to raise funds for breast cancer research.
It also brings people together who are diagnosed with, survivors of, or caregivers of breast cancer patients. And it was our pleasure to be there to help with the MC duties.
Lesley Jannis, breast cancer survivor, warrior and mother of Nicole Marchand spoke and glued the 1000-strong together with her unbreakable spirit and love. Nicole passed away this past February after pneumonia held hands with her cancer.
It devastated this community because Nicole and her mother (and Nicole’s husband Derek) were so generous of spirit in sharing the battle as it unfolded every day.
Lesley lead the Survivor Parade on stage and then spoke. Her impassioned declaration that “NOBODY should have to bury a daughter, a mother, a sister, a friend…” brought it all home as to the importance of research and events like the Run for the Cure.
Thanks to the survivors for sharing and to Lesley for EVERYTHING.
