Barrie Police have recently received video surveillance and are seeking the public’s assistance to identify a suspect responsible for creating two fraudulent bank accounts and attempting to cash a fraudulent cheque.
The suspect created two fraudulent accounts at two separate financial institutions in Barrie on Wednesday, August 31 and Friday, September 2, 2016. The suspect then made two transactions utilizing one of the accounts at an ATM in the GTA on Tuesday, September 20, just before 11:00 a.m.
The following week, on Friday, September 30, the suspect attempted to cash a cheque for over $7,000 in Barrie. The authenticity of the cheque was challenged; which led the bank to believe the cheque was suspicious and police were called.
The suspect is described as;
- Male, black
- Approx. 40 yrs.
- Heavy set, 5’11” -6’0
- Wears glasses
Suspect was seen wearing;
- Neon construction vest
- White t-shirt and dark pants
- Baseball hat, dark shirt and dark pants
