The seventh annual Base Borden Run, held Sept. 25 at CFB Borden, raised $26,400 for the Operation Hero scholarship, ensuring generations of students will benefit from this special event.
Representatives of the run’s founders – the Barrie Construction Association and the Simcoe County Home Builders’ Association – presented Georgian College President and CEO MaryLynn West-Moynes with a cheque on Nov. 14 at the Barrie Campus. Founder of Operation Hero, CFB Borden Honorary Colonel Jamie Massie, was present as well. Massie is also Georgian’s Honorary Campaign Chair and a Georgian Fellow.
The scholarship supports dependents and spouses of serving members of the Canadian Forces who are pursuing a postsecondary education at Georgian College. More than $189,000 has been raised through the run for Operation Hero in the past seven years.
