A 38-year-old Ontario woman is facing multiple charges after police said she fatally struck a dog with her vehicle in Mississauga over the weekend.
Peel Regional Police said the accused was driving on Duford Drive on Nov. 12 near Heartland Town Centre when she stopped to wave at a man and his dog to cross the street.
As the man and his pet began to make their way across the road, police said the driver stepped on the gas and veered towards them.
The man managed to escape the path of the vehicle but the dog was struck and later died of its injuries at the scene. The dog owner was uninjured.
