The Simcoe County District School Board has sold two downtown properties, the former Barrie Central Collegiate and Prince of Wales schools. The sale officially closes on New Years Day.
Details of the sale have been pretty tight, the school’s real estate broker Shannon MacIntyre telling the Barrie Examiner:
“The buyer does not want to be disclosed,” she said. “I’m bound by confidentiality.”
MacIntyre told the Examiner last June the buyer is not local. – Barrie Examiner
This puts to rest my first assumption that Georgian College had purchased the property. They’ve been eyeing downtown properties for a new downtown campus for Visual Arts and Design. Georgian College was part of a consortium trying to buy the property in 2014.
Barrie Central remains standing as it was after closing last June.
