I had something of a Christmas miracle happen to me yesterday.
If you can’t listen, here’s the story.
I was waiting at the bus stop when I saw one heading towards me. Just as I was in the middle of enjoying that “hell yeah the bus is here” feeling, it flew right by. It was 100% in service and I was the only person waiting at the stop.
I realized that I had become invisible. The classic “It’s A Wonderful Life” scenario. I was now going to witness life in a world where I didn’t exist. A ghost, buses constantly passing me by. Even worse, I didn’t get ghostly flying powers. This meant I was going to have to walk everywhere for the rest of eternity.
I scolded myself. All these years I’d waited at bus stops constantly complaining about how long the bus was taking. I should’ve just cherished that buses stopped for me at all! Now they weren’t going to stop for me…forever.
Then in the corner of my tearing eye, I saw another bus heading towards me. It was slowing down! Could it have possibly been slowing down for me? IT WAS! The white and blue chariot stopped before me and opened it’s doors. The driver welcomed me aboard.
Just when I was beginning to think I was being punished for my years of transit criticism, I was going to be given a second chance!
Before I knew it, I was riding a warm bus home.
Christmas miracles truly do exist. Happy holidays everybody!
