All due respect to the great people we lost this year.
We have lost a good amount of powerful people in 2016. David Bowie, Prince, Alan Thicke, George Michael, and now Carrie Fisher. That’s only a few. It’s made the general theme of 2016 “celebrities dying.” Understandably so, but it’s more-so bad timing than the year itself killing these people. “DAMN YOU 2016 WILL YOU STOP IT” posted online with passion with each famous passing.
Thing is, 2017 may not be that different. It’s not like once the clock strikes midnight on Saturday, celebrities you love will be safe from ailments or incidents that will result in their untimely and unexpected passing.
What we should take from these moments is remembering how unexpected our own mortality can be. When we look up to powerful individuals such as these, we almost seem surprised that they weren’t immortal.
Like we do in mourning, love and appreciate people when they’re alive, whether they’re a celebrity or somebody you love.
You just never know.
