The Mady Centre For The Performing Arts will soon be known as…
…well we don’t quite know yet. What we do know is, it will no longer be The Mady Centre after some point this year.
Naming rights to the PAC were formerly owned by Charles Mady, who had defaulted on his deal with the city last year. The name itself had expired on December 31st, even though the name is still on the side of the building.
Mayor Jeff Lehman says it’s new name will be coming soon, says the Barrie Advance:
“We’ve had a lot of interest but there hasn’t been a decision as to who the recommended new naming sponsor would be,” he said, in an interview with The Advance recently. “(Mady) contributed a little over half of what they agreed to, so we basically honoured half the time limit. That expires now. We’ll quickly want to have the next name.” – Jeff Lehman via The Barrie Advance
Pilot projects for the building’s new name will begin soon.
