Canada took a silver at the IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships last night. The loss to team USA came in an overtime shoot-out and losing a gold medal game in shoot-out has to be ranked amongst the worst ways to go down. Fans, parody accounts, comedians and hockey players all took to social media to express their discontent.

There’s no way this game should be decided in a shootout. Doesn’t make any sense. I like our chances though!

Great game. But why a shootout to decide the world championship? Like, who had the ice rented after this? #LetEmPlay
Congrats on gold USA.

Honestly banish the shootout. To the black hole.

The shootout hasn’t started yet. Nobody has won yet. Speaking on that neutral ground:
DECIDING THE GOLD MEDAL IN A SHOOTOUT IS A TRAVESTY.
