Local football teams partner with Canadian Blood Services in a friendly competition to help save lives
The senior football teams from all four Simcoe County District School Board schools in Barrie recently participated in a blood donation challenge.
Challenged by Eastview coach Jeremy Oxley to roll up their sleeves and save lives, each team held a blood drive at the Barrie blood donor clinic in December. A points system was used to tabulate the winner based on number of attendees, number of donations, as well as points given for being a new donor, blood type and social media involvement. Other sports teams in Barrie are being invited to host blood drives as a fun way to extend the rivalry and demonstrate the importance supporting their community.
