Today 2 term Barrie City Councillor Doug Shipley announced his candidacy for the Progressive Conservative Nomination in the Riding of Barrie-Innisfil.
Shipley says “I’ve served as a city councillor here in Barrie for two terms and I’ve seen the effects Kathleen Wynne’s skyrocketing hydro rates are having on our families and businesses. Councillor Shipley, a former riding association president and long-time PC Activist, is seeking the PC nomination to join party leader and former Barrie City Councillor Patrick Brown’s team to defeat Kathleen Wynne and bring back responsible policy to Ontario.
“I want to see Barrie grow and prosper. I live here with my wife and two sons where we own a small local business. This is our community, and I am not ok with Kathleen Wynne making it more expensive than ever to live and do business here.”
While serving as Councillor Shipley has also served Barrie as Chair of the Infrastructure, Investment and Development Services Committee at City Hall. He is a member of the Barrie Police Services Board and the Barrie and Area Physician Recruitment Committee. In his spare time he coaches hockey for Barrie Minor hockey.
