Today, the Member of Parliament for Barrie-Innisfil, John Brassard is encouraging employers to consider hiring local youth through the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) program. The deadline for applications is February 3, 2017. Applicants approved for funding will be able to hire students as early as April 2017.
Canada Summer Jobs is part of the Government of Canada’s Youth Employment Strategy, which is its commitment to help young people, particularly those facing barriers to employment.
The Canada Summer Jobs program creates summer job opportunities for full-time students aged 15 to 30 years old. CSJ has provided employment to over 400,000 students since it began in 2007 under the previous Conservative Government.
Organizations focusing on the arts, tourism, community celebrations, agricultural fairs, health & fitness promotion, Canada’s 150th anniversary of Confederation and the 100th Anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge are also priorities for the local MP. All eligible applicants are encouraged to apply.
