Barrie Police, Barrie Fire, and Simcoe County Paramedics responded to a call at a townhouse describing “an odor 10 times stronger than nail polish,” on Tuesday morning.
Upon responding to the scene a HazMat unit used 4 gas detectors but turned up with a negative result. No residents were affected or harmed by the smell. After a thorough investigation, crews were unable to determine the cause of the smell.
A Barrie Fire Captain noted that the smell could have been from someone using tea tree oil to wash their hair. Tea tree oil is known for it’s very strong, pungent odor.
