According to Bloomberg News Heinz Ketchup is giving all of its US employees the Monday off following the Super Bowl. The company feels that using the money they would’ve spent on a Super Bowl Commercial ($5 Million) was better used to give it’s employee’s a day off.
The company also has released a statement about the day after the Super Bowl becoming a national holiday. “We wanted to get behind an initiative that we know people feel strongly about. The Heinz brand doesn’t settle on delivering superior taste or quality, and we don’t believe America should have to settle on the day after the best sports day of the year”
CNBC claims last year, 16.5 million people called in sick the day after the Super Bowl so really they are just looking to formalize a the vacation day.
