It’s a day known for food, football and beer.
Police are taking note of this as well.
With the big day tomorrow, RIDE programs will be out checking for drivers who might be celebrating their team’s win a bit more exuberantly. South Simcoe Police have already stated their intentions to do so with a campaign they’re calling #ScoreZero:
“If you’re watching the big game, you might want to enjoy it with a few drinks. That’s great, but please don’t drink and drive.
We will have R.I.D.E. spot checks out throughout our area, checking to see if you “#ScoreZero” on your roadside test.
A Blood Alcohol Concentration above 80 milligrams will earn you a criminal charge and an automatic 90 day licence suspension, not to mention legal costs and possible jail time.
A reading between 50 and 80 will get you a 3, 7, or 30 day driver’s licence suspension. If you’re a novice driver, any score above zero will be a ticket and a 24 hour suspension.
Be the M.V.P. this Sunday, #ScoreZero and help us reduce impaired driving!”
