Another year, another big game.
Pats take on the Falcons tonight for the biggest prize in football (and maybe one of the biggest prizes in sports). The game has a big impact and lots of pressure with the players themselves, but every year this game also has a big impact on North America as a whole. That being said, here are the stories for tonight.
A First vs. A Fifth
Tonight, Pats QB Tom Brady chases the 5th Super Bowl Championship of his career. Whether or not you like him, Tom Brady would only be the 2nd NFL player in history to have five rings if he wins tonight. The only other player to have 5 Super Bowl titles is Charles Haley, who won multiple championships with the 49ers and Cowboys in the late 80s and early 90s.
Falcons QB Matt Ryan has many different honors under his belt; 4 time Pro Bowler, 2016’s NFL MVP, 2016’s Offensive Player of the Year, and many other accolades.
All he’s missing is a Super Bowl ring. In fact, the Atlanta Falcons themselves have never won a Super Bowl either. They’re one of 13 NFL teams that haven’t.
Lady Gaga isn’t everyone’s favourite artist, although she has toned things down in recent years as far as her act goes. Gone are the days where she would prance around on stage more naked than the day she came out the womb, wearing only a lobster on her head.
However, Lady Gaga still isn’t shy about sharing her political views. With millions of eyes on her during a live telecast and recent events in the news many are wondering if she will make some sort of political statement.
I’m not talking about Sting. Local police forces are expected to be vigilantly searching for impaired drivers on the roads of Simcoe Region. South Simcoe Police have already launched a “#ScoreZero” campaign, promoting responsible transport for those drinking during the game.
