Barrie Police were called to Woods Park Care Centre last night after a fire broke out at the retirement and long-term care residence.
The fire was contained into one room which had been engulfed in flames when Barrie Fire arrived. The room sustained extensive damage. As a result of the fire 60 residents were displaced from the floor and accommodated to another wing of the building.
A 79-year-old Barrie man remains in hospital following treatment for smoke inhalation and has been charged with Arson-Disregard for Human Life and Arson-Damage to property.
