Investigators with the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit are seeking public assistance in identifying a suspect following a robbery at a retail store in the Town of Newmarket.
On Monday, March 7, 2017, at 10:45 p.m., police were called to a store located in the area of Davis Drive, west of Barbara Road, following a report of a robbery. When officers arrived, they found the suspect had fled. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the suspect. The lone employee was not injured.
The investigation has revealed that a man entered the store and approached the employee at the counter. He made a demand for cash. The suspect then threatened the employee with a hammer. He grabbed the cash drawer from the register and fled on foot out the front door.
