Barrie Police are on scene at 101 Kozlov Street, investigating a homicide involving a 50 year-old woman.
Barrie Police responded to the apartment complex around 2AM this mornings, found the victim without vital signs, and transported her to hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The investigation is in it’s early stages at this time, but Barrie Police say the initial 9-1-1 call reported a shooting inside the apartment complex.
The victim’s identity will not be released until family members have been notified. No arrests have been made at this time.
Investigators now believe the victim and the suspect were known to one another; although at this time do not have anyone in custody.
The 50-year-old victim has been transported to the Ontario Center for Forensic Science. A forensic post-mortem is schedule for Wednesday, March 15, which will determine the cause of death.
Investigators will be canvassing the building at 101 Kozlov Street, and surrounding area. Police will be utilizing the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) in conjunction with a ground search of the perimeter.
