(Innisfil, ON) On Tuesday, March 13, 2017, just before 5:00 p.m., a South Simcoe Police Traffic & Marine officer was patrolling 10 Sideroad near Innisfil Beach Road. The Radar Detector Detector (RDD) in his cruiser alerted him to a passing vehicle. The officer stopped the car and examined a dash mounted device. The tablet style GPS was equipped with a radio, a dash cam and a working radar detector. The item was seized and the woman charged with Driving With A Speed Measuring Warning Device.
Drivers are reminded that radar detectors are illegal in Ontario. Use of a a radar detector will result in a $170 fine and three demerit points if convicted. The device will be seized at the time of the offence and will not be returned.
