Barrie Police is looking for more information about a racially motivated assault.
On Monday, April 3rd at about 8:20pm two male teens of middle-eastern descent were walking on the sidewalk in the area of Grove Street and Cook Street. An unknown male suspect who was walking in front of them became enraged at the two males talking in their native language. He turned and began yelling racially motivated slurs at both males before assaulting one of the males. He then fled on foot crossing Grove Street, nearly being struck by a passing motorist.
Police are looking to speak with the driver and anyone else who may have witnessed it, or may have video footage of the incident. Neither victim sustained any serious physical injuries as a result of the confrontation.
The suspect is described as:
30-35 years of age
Wearing loose fitting jeans, a black hoodie, black baseball cap and carrying an old, torn looking backpack
