Over the past few days, I have been hearing and seeing a great deal of coverage on the 100th Anniversary of Vimy Ridge…and that’s a good thing. I remember when I was a kid in public school, the stories of trench warfare, gas attacks and epic battles like Vimy Ridge seem ancient to me then-and that was 45 years ago. I can only image what kids today in school today think about our Canadian history. My generation has no real contact with war and the generation after me is the same way, and so on and so on-again that ‘s a good thing. I very much would like to acknowledge the sacrifice these soldier’s made for their country and for the generations that came after. Please take a moment on Sunday to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of Vimy Ridge. Stop by the cenotaph on Sunday or drop by your local legion and have a drink with a veteran and say thanks.
