Today in strange-but-true stats: a full 7% of American adults think chocolate milk comes from brown cows, according to Food & Wine. The survey of more than 1,000 people translates to approx. 16.4 million Americans who actually believe that chocolate milk is the biproduct of brown cows. For real. Overally the survey also found that 48% of adults aren’t sure where chocolate milk comes from. Critics have been highlighting America’s nutritional ignorance for years, for example, a study by the Dept. of Agriculture two decades ago found nearly one in five US adults didn’t know that hamburgers were made of beef. Or another study which shows that grade school students in California have no idea that pickles, cuccumbers or onions and lettuce are all plants.
Anyone surprised that people in the US have no idea what they’re eating?
