Sources are saying that a Canadian Elite Special Forces sniper shattered the world record for longest confirmed kill shot in military history with a kill from 3,450 meters. The JTF2 sniper killed an Islamic State insurgent firing from a high-rise in Iraq, which took almost 10 seconds to hit the target.
The story originally reported by The Globe and Mail says that the previous record was 2,475 held by a member of the British forces in 2009 but at 3,450 meters the current record is thought to be unbreakable by some. A Globe military insider was quoted as saying “This is an incredible feat. It is a world record that might never be equalled”
