It was the ‘Road to the Roar’ pre-trials and sadly it spelled the end of Glenn Howard’s dream of competing at the upcoming Winter Olympics. “Absolutely disapointing because you know you want to go” said Howard “I’ve had many chances to get there” Team Howard lost to Team Bottcher 9-5 in Summerside PEI. Howard, a local favourite originally from Midland, is one of the most decorated curlers of all time with four Briers and 15 Ontario provicinal championships.
Brendan Bottcher’s team clinched the final men’s spot for the final in Ottawa next month where Canada’s four-player curling teams will vie for a spot at the upcoming 2018 winter Olympics. Howard who is now 55 years old stated pre-trial that this would be his final attempt at making the Olympics for Canada.
