Elf on the Shelf has surfaced over the last few years as a tradition for for families with young kids. Some parents now are over the fad which started in 2005 with a children’s book. The ‘Elf on a Shelf’ is placed around the house in the weeks leading up to Christmas; Children are told that it’s watching their behaviour and reporting back to Santa and his naught/nice list. Parents often will move the doll around to various locations late at night to make it seems like the Elf is sentient. A little creepy, no? well people have finally realized that the idea of a doll spying on your kids is creepy after all and others have also rejected the Elf because moving it around and keeping up the facad has become ‘one more thing to do’ over the holidays. Regardless of the motivations, say goodby to the ‘Elf on the Shelf’ his popularity rating is racing to Donald Trump levels.
