South Simcoe Police are seeking assistance from the public in locating a vehicle involved in a Hit and Run collision that occurred on Collings Ave in Bradford around 12:45 am.
A black Chevrolet pickup, possibly a Silverado was driving southbound on Collings Avenue and struck a parked Ford 150 pickup truck causing substantial damage. The driver of the Chevrolet failed to remain and was last seen southbound on Collings Ave.
The Chevrolet pickup truck will have substantial damage to the front of the vehicle, including missing the front grill and one headlight.
Police are appealing for any witnesses who may have observed this vehicle on either Maplegrove Avenue or Collings Ave in Bradford this morning to please contact Constable Andrew Smith at (905) 775-3311 extension 1411 or Crime Stoppers.
Every driver on the road in Ontario has a duty to remain at the scene when an collision occurs.
Drivers who have been involved in a collision are required to:
Remain at the scene.
Offer as much assistance as possible to other parties involved as well as to police officers who may be present.
Give drivers licence, insurance policy and any other required information to police or to the party involved in the collision.
If there is more than $2,000 damage, the collision must be reported to police immediately.
The penalty for failing to remain at the scene of an collision is:
7 demerit points.
Possible licence suspension for up to 2 years.
Imprisonment for no more than 6 months.
and a fine between $400 and $2,000.
